The art of map and compass has become lost with more and more people becoming reliant on GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) systems. GPS is great, unless, you're in a canyon, dense forests or your batteries die. And you should still be able to read and understand the features and topography of a map so you don't find yourself walking off a cliff.
Our navigation course is in a 2 1/2 to 3 day day format depending on class size and needs.
Day 1 is in the classroom learning to understand map topography and legends, the difference between magnetic and true North and learning how to triangulate your location using fixed points of reference.
Day's 2 & 3 are in the field, using the tools learned in the classroom to navigate to fixed locations and to find your present location by triangulating 2 or more fixed points.
Prerequisites: None
Equipment needed: Outdoor cloths and good foot wear. Students are encouraged to bring their own compasses to practice with. Also bring water and food for day's 2 & 3
Tuition: TBA
Dates: TBA
We work to reinforce the need to follow as accurate a compass heading as possible and how to navigate around obstacles.

Knowing that 2 degree's over 2 miles can make a big difference in where you end up is critical.
